Mukuru kwa Reuben
The sign on the wall
The blue board reads Mukuru-Kwa-Rueben Hospital. Under it, the health centre has painted the work of an ordinary week: antenatal care, family planning, outpatient services, the laboratory, immunization, the pharmacy, postnatal care, the NCD clinic, nutrition and growth monitoring, and HIV testing and care.

In the corridor
GHAI arrived in white shirts and met the facility team in the hallway. A vest from Kware Dispensary read Huduma Mashinani. Another said Primary Health Care. Nairobi County was in the room. So was a child who stayed with the group for the whole visit.
They talked outside the laboratory door, then gathered by the female ward. It was a working conversation between the people who keep the building running and the people who had come to stand with them.

What they carried in
Red bags and blue bags came off a van in the yard, then filled a table inside. GHAI tote bags went with the team from the parking lot to the corridor. The photographs do not itemize what was inside. They show the handover: staff, volunteers, and that same small boy, standing with the pile once it was indoors.
